Wells watercolor exhibits
A painting by Frances Wells has been accepted in the American Watercolor Society’s 142nd international exhibition at the Salmagundi Club in New York. Her work, titled “Twilight Time, Dark Moon,” was among 100 paintings chosen from more than 1800 entries for the show. The painting was also selected by the jurors for the American Watercolor Society Traveling Exhibition of 40 works opening in May in Kerrville, Texas.
Ms. Wells has another work included in Watercolor USA 2009, a competitive exhibition to shown June 5-August 2 at the Springfield Museum in Missouri. A native of Kentucky, she earned a degree in fine arts from Murray State University and enjoyed a lengthy art-teaching career before becoming a full time artist. Her credits include artwork for eight college textbook covers. In her early career, she focused on realistic work, but has turned toward the abstract during the past two decades. Her work has been shown in national and regional exhibitions in Kentucky, Indiana, Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina.
